Advanced Step Using Social Media: Automation and Monitoring

Here is the more advanced step of using the social media website, Twitter. This is absolutely optional but super powerful! So you already have an account on Twitter, but here are some tools to make ‘tweeting’ easier!

Hootsuite: Hootsuite is a very important social media website, so first off create an account there. One of the great things this site does is you can manage more than one Twitter account at a time.  This way you don’t have to log in and out of different accounts, they can all be managed on Hootsuite. Another useful tool this site provides is the ability to shrink a URL if it is too long. Hootsuite also provides the ability for your ‘tweets’ to become automated, so you can choose when you want to send out a message if you want to send it in the future.  Say for example you have a meeting right at the time you want to update your followers about an important seminar, or whatever, you can set a message for a certain time on Hootsuite.

RSS integration: You can also create an RSS feed that comes from your blog, so you don’t have to update people on your blog, it does updates automatically when you post a blog. You can control the RSS feed, and if you don’t know what an RSS feed is, it is a little orange button with white lines and from there you are able to click on this and find all your blog posts and when you posted them.  If you copy your RSS feed link and put it in your Hootsuite and from there it can be checked in the amount of time you choose, so for example every 12 hours. After you choose the time you want your RSS feed to be checked, you pick which Twitter account or accounts you want this news to be posted on.  So when you create a new blog it will show up on your RSS feed, and then Hootsuite will check the RSS feed and in turn show that on your Twitter account or accounts.

Ping.fm: On your Hootsuite page, click on the tab that says ‘Social Networks’ and from this we can integrate Ping.fm.  Ping.fm allows you to control all your social networks from one site, like your Facebook, Myspace, etc. So if you add your Ping.fm site to your Hootsuite site, your RSS feed will be checked and not only will update your Twitter, but now since you integrated Ping.fm, all of your other social media sites will be updated as well! This basically gives you the ability to automate all your social networks.

Keyword Monitoring: Now that you know how to automate all your social media sites, now all you have to do is monitor! Now in any of your social accounts in Hootsuite, add a column and then press ‘keyword tracking’ then choose a few keywords or phrases, like your location or any other key word for you niche.  This ability helps you single out people and make them feel special, it really helps your communication with new potential customers.

How To Create Buyers on Facebook

How do you create buyers on facebook? You want to convert your facebook groups, profile pages, and fan pages into sales for your company. Your goal is not to trick people into becoming fans of your pages. Social media has become extremely transparent; people will see through your tricks, so do not have a hidden agenda. If you have a hidden agenda people will see it and will not want to be a part of your facebook groups nor have anything to do with your business.

  1. Don’t be that guy – the guy that walks into a party immediately trying to sell his product. Don’t be the guy who goes out and spams. People will get annoyed and turn away from you and your business. Social media is similar to a party. Provide something of value to your potential customers. If you provide value to people they will come to trust your business and will consequentially purchase products from you. Providing value to your niche is key to your company’s success.
  2. Position yourself – position yourself as an expert. How will you get people to trust you? Especially on the internet. To gain that trust you need to position yourself properly. Become the expert so that customers will have confidence in your business. You want to become the source of credible, quality information. Potential customers will – in their mind – recollect that your business provided quality information on the subject and they will want to buy products from your company because you know what you are talking about, they will also suggest your business to their friends. This will drive more leads and convert more potential customers into sales generating profit for your company.
  3. Know your audience – know who you are speaking to so that you can provide them the right information, the information that is pertinent to them. With that, don’t waste your time on the wrong people. If you continue to market to the wrong people, you will exhaust yourself and waste valuable time and resources. Accept that there will be some people who don’t want to be sold, and avoid them. Talk to the people who desire your product and want to buy from your business. 10% of people love you and your business. 10% will never buy from you. The other 80% are on the fence – provide value to them and capture their attention.
  4. Wrap all your sales in content – this is extremely valuable to social media. For example, if you are giving away a two hour webinar at the end of it you can suggest your website so that people may continue on to your site if they wish to know more. Another example could be, if your company sells supplements, provide a recipe and then if people are missing ingredients they can purchase those ingredients from your business. By providing awesome value in your content, you also pursue a sale.
  5. The 5-1 rule – for every five pieces of content that you give out have one sale. Don’t over sell or people will get burnt out and be turned off.

There is a list of five things that you can go out and implement to drive more leads, more sales, and more profit for your business.

How To Customize Your Facebook Page

So one of the major knocks on using Facebook for business is that there is no customization allowed.  The skeptics say its all pretty cookie cutter and its hard to stand out.

Well, not anymore.  Awhile back Facebook added the ability for you to customize your Facebook Fanpages and really brand it with your logo, look and feel.  However, surprisingly not many people actually take advantage of this ability and I think from a business perspective that’s a huge mistake.

You always want to take every opportunity you can to brand yourself, show how professional you are and of course speak and interact with your clients and potential customers.

Ok, I’ll get down off my soapbox now and just show you how its done.  Enjoy

Facebook Tips For Business Use

Now that you’ve jumped on the Facebook phenomenon along with approximately 400 MILLION people from around the globe, how do you monetize it for your business?  Farmville, mafia wars, friend of the day, etc. are all great fun and games but at the end of the day if you want to leverage facebook for your business, that just won’t cut it.  Let’s focus on some basic facebook tips for business use.  First, as with any part of your business, you need to set  a discipline in regards to being effective with your time.  Facebook for social engagement and enjoyment is OK, however, you must separate those activities from your primary business practices when using facebook.

Setting up your fan page or group for your business is a must.  You can learn more about fan pages or groups by clicking here to read our previous post on this topic.  Once you have established your business presence you should put together a plan to drive traffic to your fan page.  The goal with your fan page is to increase fans and your exposure for your business.  There are several ways to do this.

  1. You can invite your current friends to your business fan page
  2. Encourage others to invite friends to your fan page
  3. Leverage your current customer database to expose them to your fan page
  4. Add your facebook url to all your marketing and advertising
  5. Place an ad on facebook within your target demographics to attract people to your page

“The options are limitless and the results can be outstanding, leveraging facebook engages your clients and creates an army of supporters”

Now that you have your followers another tip for facebook business use involves fan interaction.  How many times have you seen facebook pages that only has promotions from the business?  To many, as a matter of fact we would argue 98% of all fan pages are just that, another way for a business to spam a promotion.  Step back and ask yourself how can you encourage interaction from your fans?

Here are some tips:

  1. Ask feedback on your products or services
  2. Encourage them to post pictures, videos or other items to your wall that involve your business
  3. Ask their opinion on something you are considering
  4. Post a poll or survey
  5. Hold a contest that incorporates their interaction on your wall

The power behind these facebook tips for your business lies in the viral effect that occurs as you engage your fans.  Remember, every time they post, comment or participate their friends will see what they are doing, this in turn will create other people to check out your page.  In addition, the “tribe” effect begins to happen and you will in time develop a group of promoters who will fight til the end for you, your company and your offering.

“Don’t forget the foundation to all this depends upon the value you bring to your market.  If you provide value your fans will be more than spectators, they will engage and promote.”

As always, show us you’re alive let us know your thoughts, comment, share and enjoy. . .
